2024/2/15
【ATTENTION】 Important Notice on Purchase of Second-Hand Vehicles from Japan In recent years, the Embassy of Japan in Zimbabwe has received an increasing number of reports of problems related to importing used vehicles from Japan to Zimbabwe. For example, there are cases in which importers have transferred money to entities that claim to be authentic Japanese companies dealing second-hand vehicles and the latter failed to ship the vehicles after receiving the payment or cases of significant delay.
In order to avoid such issues, the Embassy advises prospective buyers to take utmost caution when buying a car especially through online or social media , by exercising due diligence to verify the current operation status of the dealers.

If you believe that you have become involved in a fraudulent deal, you may wish to take the following step:  Contact the Commercial Crimes Division at the Zimbabwe Police General Headquarters(PGHQ) on Tel: 0242-764003. The Japan Police conducts investigations in good faith to crack down on such fraud cases based on requests and reports received from the Zimbabwean Police through the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO). The investigations, however, do not always guarantee the desired outcome.
