On 28 March, the Embassy held a Japanese Film Festival at the Alliance Française. Over 300 people attended the event, with Ambassador Maekawa delivering the opening address and Hon. Emily Jesaya, Minister of Sport, Recreation and Arts, giving a guest address. Attendees enjoyed three Japanese films-Magic Candy, Bushido Sixteen and BL Metamorphosis- and experienced authentic Japanese cuisine, such as Onigiri (rice ball), Yakisoba (stir-fried noodle), Chicken teriyaki, Match Castella (Japanese sponge cake with green tea) and green tea.
The Embassy hopes that this event served as an opportunity to promote cultural exchange between Japan and Zimbabwe and to deepen mutual understanding. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Toei Animation who provided "Magic Candy" free of charge, and to Harare Kawasaki, who exhibited their bikes.
