Courtesy Call on Ambassador MAEKAWA by UNDP

On March 24, Ambassador Maekawa received a courtesy call from Dr. Ayodele Odusola, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Zimbabwe.
Ambassador Maekawa was briefed on the status of two vital projects supported by Japan, aimed at fostering sustainable development in Zimbabwe. These initiatives include: strengthening community resilience through landmine countermeasures and agricultural infrastructure development; and strengthening the resilience and food security of small-scale farmers through the introduction of drought-resistant agriculture and measures against pest birds u using Japanese AI and drone technology by a Japanese company. These projects underscore Japan's commitment to enhancing human security and food security, and to leveraging innovative solutions for community empowerment.
Furthermore, they exchanged views on the evolving development cooperation landscape in Zimbabwe, particularly the significant global shift from "Aid to Investment." Both emphasized the critical importance of encouraging private sector investment to drive sustainable economic growth and create new opportunities within the country.
The Embassy looks forward to continued collaboration with UNDP for a prosperous Zimbabwe.
