On 27 August, Ambassador MAEKAWA paid a courtesy call on Hon. Advocate Felix T Mhona, Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development. They exchanged views on Japan’s cooperation in transport and infrastructure development, including the rehabilitation of the northern part of the North-South Corridor, capacity development for One-Stop Border Posts, and the maintenance of roads. The Ambassador highlighted the strategic importance of the North-South Corridor as a key logistics artery connecting Southern Africa and reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to supporting Zimbabwe’s efforts to enhance regional connectivity and integration.
 
The Ambassador also expressed his appreciation for the Minister’s continued leadership and guidance in Japan’s infrastructure cooperation. Both sides agreed to continue working closely to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and contribute to safe and efficient transportation in Zimbabwe and enhanced connectivity across Southern Africa.
